A reincarnation of Le Riche’s classic Cab Merlot blend, this is an exceptionally lovely, classically Bordelaise blend. Restrained but appealing on the nose with typical red fruit aromas of plum and cherries are balanced by a sensation of the finely ground graphite found in Left Bank Bordeaux. Les Hautains Madiran Plaimont
£15.99This organic Madiran is a blend, dominated by the local Tannat variety, but also containing some Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. All three varieties are fermented separately, undergoing light pumping overs for gentle extractions. This is to obtain a balanced level of tannins for structure. The wine is aged in barrel for 12 months for light oxygen exposure. Rich on the nose with dark black fruits and spice, combined with a juicy body and powerful yet silky tannins.
