The wine is pumped over the skins several times during vinification in order to favour the extraction of their colouring substances and tannis, before maturing in wood for 5-6 months. The wine is fresh, with scents that recall red fruits such as redcurrants and raspberries. On the palate, it is well structured, rounded and harmonious, with evident red fruit notes. A vigorous, full-bodied deep ruby red wine. Clean and vibrant fragrances of currants, blackberries and sweet almonds on the nose, with notes of vanilla. The finish is dry with lingering blackcurrant and blueberry flavours.1 x San Lorenzo The Pearl Alexander Valley - U.S.A.The San Lorenzo vineyard was purchased by Pete Seghesio’s grandfather in 1896, with ten gold coins he had earned working as a cook for the gold mines. Old deeds suggest that the vineyard was planted before 1892. This ‘Pearl’ of a vineyard is adjacent to Pete’s home, which has a small cellar underneath. The blend for 'The Pearl' is a result of the century old field blend of 69% Zinfandel, 15% Petite Sirah, 5% Carignan and 10% mixed reds that include Grand Noir, Alicante, Negrette and Mataro.1 x Chassagne-Montrachet Pierre Bouree - FranceFine, bright, golden colour, rich and complex aromas (hazelnuts, honey), intense and persistent on the palate.
