2 x Chateau des Demoiselles Castillon Cotes de Bordeaux
Always our favourite affordable Bordeaux this is drinking beautifully now. Made from around three quarters merlot, with the rest of the blend being made of cabernet sauvignon and cabernet franc, it is a fruity juicy style of Bordeaux but punches well above its price tag. If you like St Emilion and Pomerol but are fed up with their ever-rising prices this is an excellent alternative with ripe generous fruit.
2 x Chateau Haut Grelot Rouge Cotes de Blaye
Notes of red fruits, slightly spicy from a blend of 50% merlot and 50% cabernet sauvignon, supple easy-drinking everyday claret.
2 x Chateau L’Ombriere Bordeaux Superieur
A pretty ruby red colour, still youthful with a classic, attractive nose of cedar, spice and a savoury, earthy edge with some cassis leaf. Restrained, quite lean and tight with some subtle red cherry and damson fruit and a twist of tannin on the finish. A well-balanced classic style.
