Description
2 x Pol Roger White Foil Brut Reserve – Champagne
The definitive house-style, composed from 30 still base wines drawn from at least three vintages, and the three varieties of Champagne, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Pinot Meunier blended in equal portions. The Pinot Noir comes from the villages of the Montagne de Reims and contributes body and character; the Chardonnay comes from Epernay itself and the Cote des Blancs and provides lightness and elegance; the Pinot Meunier comes from the Vallee de la Marne and provides youthfulness and vigour. The perfect aperitif champagne which is never released until it is at least three years old.
2 Chateau D’Esclans Whispering Angel Cotes de Provence Rose – Provence
Chateau dโEsclans is located on an exceptional site, on elevated land near the Gorges de Pennafort, twenty kilometers northwest of the ancient Roman city of Frejus on the Mediterranean coast. The first traces of the chateauโs site date back to Gaullist times during which its location served as a lookout point to spot intruders coming by boat into the Gulf of Frejus. The surrounding land around Chateau dโEsclans is known as La Vallee des Esclans (the valley of the clans). A pale partridge eye pink with perfumed bouquet, which follows with elegant summer fruits. The palate is refined and elegant with faint cherry nuances and beautifully integrated balancing acidity. This superb rose is made from a blend of old vines and using traditional Burgundian winemaking techniques, resulting in a rounded and expressive Provence rose with unusual complexity.
2 x Domaine Garnier et Fils Chablis – Burgundy
Proof that the 2023 vintage in Chablis has produced really classic steely wines. The soils of Maligny, Ligny et Villy make up, in order of importance, the blend for this Chablis where each commune brings its own character. The pale yellow with hints of green marks the arrival of Chablis , whilst the floral and cut grass aromas blend with chalky flintiness.
2 x Pouilly Fume Chateau de Tracy – Loire
If you are tired of “in-your-face” sauvignon buy a bottle of this. Becuase this is sauvignon at its most graceful with delicate stone fruit and citrus aromas. The citrus flavours continue on the palate which has a hint of flint from the silex soils in the background. The wine shows its class and a long crisp finish.
2 x Chateauneuf-du-Pape Andre Mathieu – Rhone
The 9 hectares of vineyards used to make this cuvรฉe are spread across several different terroirs within the appellation, producing the 13 grape varieties. Traditional winemaking methods and 12-14 monthsโ ageing in old โfoudreโ barrels give the wine a ruby-red colour with aromas of small red berries and spices. This is an elegant wine whose tannins integrate well with its rounded flavours.
2 x Chateau des Demoiselles Castillon – Bordeaux
Always our favourite affordable Bordeaux this is drinking beautifully now. Made from around three quarters merlot, with the rest of the blend being made of cabernet sauvignon and cabernet franc, it is a fruity juicy style of Bordeaux but punches well above its price tag. If you like St Emilion and Pomerol but are fed up with their ever-rising prices this is an excellent alternative with ripe generous fruit.
